What you should know about CMI Fasteners, Limited
Quite difficult decisions to make at a time when the future in the NZ manufacturing environment was not at all clear. At this time the parent company CMI were also initiating the manufacture of an entirely different nail. It is the policy of the company to innovate, manufacture and supply quality fasteners on time and to specification to satisfy customer needs. In 1953 Consolidated Metal Industries CMI was formed to bring together the business activities of the Fowler family which included their shareholding in Auto Manufacturing a company which produced the Auto brand of nails.
In 1964 CMI formed an association with Sydney Cooke Limited of Australia to manufacture small screws in New Zealand. In the 1980’s CMI was a large and diversified group of companies which was taken over by Brierley Investments who later merged it into the Winstone Group of companies and in 1986 Winstones were then taken over by Fletcher Challenge Limited. Fletcher Challenge broke up the Winstone group of businesses and assimilated various parts of CMI that related to FCL’s core activities resulting in CMI Screws and Fasteners being offered for sale. In 1994 Warwick Bringans sold his shareholding jointly to Acma Capital Limited and Aldridge Investments Limited.
It is the policy of the company to innovate, manufacture and supply quality fasteners on time and to specification to satisfy customer needs. We do this by establishing turn key operations for our partners, licensees and applicators in various locations around the world. This, we believe will distinguish our customers and licensees from their competitors, enabling them to create their own new markets with a large range of premium products. This is the smallest of the ALZIN equipment which allows CMI to be able to service a large range of fasteners with in the NZ market
