The Dove model of care means caring for people from the moment they are diagnosed with a life threatening illness through to end of life or into wellness. The gap’ between can be months, even years, when the effects of illness and treatment are life changing. This care is drawn from a range of integrative body therapies, emotional and spiritual support, medical and nursing advice, group work and informative forums. Patients tell us they experience a safe place of healing and relief from anxiety while navigating the experience of serious illness.
The Clinical Team also works closely with other support agencies like St Andrews Residential Care, Cancer Society, Leukaemia Blood Cancer New Zealand, Melanoma New Zealand, Sweet Louise and the Grief Centre to ensure the effective use of resources and skills and wraparound support for patients and families. Care is focused on people finding a sense of holistic well being while facing the challenges that life threatening illness brings. Our model of care falls outside traditional government funding so we rely totally on the gift of time from volunteers, the gift of product to our six Dove Hospice Shops, fundraising, grants, bequests and donations. This support means we provide over 5,00 individual treatments and 1,00 inpatient care days every year, helping and caring for people at varying points on their journey with life threatening illness
In 1994 we moved to a room at the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital in St Heliers Bay Road.
Many volunteers, service clubs, trusts and individuals contributed to the completion of this well appointed building from which to reach out to the community. In 2014, Eastern Bays Hospice was renamed Dove Hospice as we came to serve wider Auckland communities through our unique day programme at Dove House and Dove Wing, our 3 bed, 24 hour care unit that focuses on palliative care

Dove Wing is a three bed, 24 hour care unit with a focus on palliative care. She loves the busy role and being part of the competent mufti disciplinary team. She has served on the Hospices of Auckland executive as the Eastern Bays representative.
In the provision of holistic protection we join Therapies, counseling and Emotional Support, Nursing and Medical advice, Spiritual Support, Informative Workshops and Support Groups. Our aim at Dove House is to empower and enable you to find and maintain a sense of healthy being that is important for you, while living with life menacing illness and to urge your loved ones through this time. Once your estate is assessed, other gifts made and all expenses taken care of, you gift what is left to Dove Hospice. Family, friends, neighbors, church, community and health professionals can all aid you in your care for your loved one. The Dove Hospice shops support the labor of Dove Hospice to maintain the services at Dove House and Dove Wing.
The fund helped enormously in cementing the Art Healing Table as an ongoing integral segment of the Dove programmed of care. Those staying in Dove Wing receive medical and nursing care provided by experienced Health Concern Assistants overseen by Registered Nurses. She developed her interest in health work within the community setting behind living and volunteering in the Pacific Islands. Simon is an executive slick leader and director with over 25 years of business experience in a variety of sectors including professional services, telecommunications, banking, manufacturing, construction, health care and primary.
Rob has a wide range of experience in all aspects of financial management including accounting, tax planning, business structuring and management across the manufacturing, retail, property and service industry sectors. Lynne brings her experience as a teacher, youth worker and hospital chaplain to her work at Dove House. Donations and bequests to ensure the continuation of an exceptional community service.
