Publicising electricity and gas safety, and advising consumers and business about the safety of electrical and gas products and services. Energy Safety isters the technical provisions of the Electricity Safety Regulations 2010 and the Gas Safety and Measurement Regulations 2010 to promote, monitor and enforce safe supply and use of electrical and gas appliances and fittings supplied in New Zealand. Energy Safety works with manufacturers, importers, suppliers, retailers and traders of electrical and gas products, to ensure they provide safe products to New Zealand consumers. Conducting compliance audits of electrical and gas product suppliers appliances . Investigating accidents and incidents involving the public and electrical or gas products, installations or networks.
Investigating complaints related to the safety of electrical and gas products, installations or networks. Providing advice to Government on energy safety issues associated with electrical and gas product safety. As Energy Safety is responsible for monitoring and enforcing the laws relating to the safe use of energy, we must remain fully impartial and independent from the responsibilities of the electrical and gas product supplier or energy provider. Established under the Electricity Act to promote safety for all New Zealanders by regulating the competency of electrical and electronic workers.
LPGANZ The LPG Association of New Zealand represents all major LPG companies in New Zealand. A certified system required under the Gas Act and Electricity Act for gas and electricity supply networks to manage public safety hazards. Energy Safety is the government agency responsible for providing an effective investigation, compliance, enforcement, and conformance regime for achieving electrical and gas safety outcomes. The occupier or the person in charge of a non work related accident area is required by law to report to Energy Safety any accidents that are caused by electricity or gas that result in fatalities, serious injuries or significant damage to property. For a number of years Energy Safety has published an annual summary report of non work related notifiable electrical and gas accidents
