NZ BAKELS LTD or NZB as it is known within the Group was first registered in New Zealand in 1953. Manufacturing first commenced in 1956 in small premises in Dominion Road Auckland under the guidance of new appointee Maurice Duncan. The company soon outgrew these premises and in 1960 moved to a purpose built building on a site in Church Street Penrose where it is still based today. As a major manufacturer and exporter, safe food and quality products are vital to maintaining our markets and customer confidence.
This is achieved through our dedication to the principles of HACCP and product quality from source to customer ensuring all of our products meet today's quality expectations. NZ Bakels quality control is carried out in well equipped laboratory and QC Bakery facilities. Testing procedures consist of both chemical analysis and bake tests to ensure all products are fully up to standard before release to the market.
