There is a long history within the office, celebrating over 50 years, Formerly Dodd Paterson Bukowski Rehm, and then ADP Architects, the practice was originally formed in 1960 and two of the staff from that office are currently consultants to Pacific Environments NZ Ltd. The current practice, Pacific Environments NZ Ltd, was formed in June 2006 through a merger with Peter Eising previously a founding director of the highly acclaimed Architects Patterson’ now Pattersons’ and the renowned and successful ADP Architects formerly Dodd Paterson Bukowski Rehm
Built over 70 years ago beside the main trunk railway in the valley lower Parnell Road and the Domain as a diesel workshop for the new trains, the site and buildings fell to disrepair behind the workshops were re sited. The site sits on the edge of a busy arterial road and residential behind requiring careful design considerations to appease residents while making a strong commercial statement. A tight budget coupled with cost effective design created a successful building for the school. The outcome is a design that creates an unfold planned, light and airy feel, opening up the tightness of the insignificant space. The master planning and urban design satisfied the concise with an integrated community development and feel, of inter generational housing typologies and a retirement community, normal facilities and a trivial commercial center convenience shops and ca. A 40 bed sports lodge competent of accommodating team groups or individuals has been constructed to the south of the center while a fresh Grandstand to the Sovereign Stadium is included in the Millennium Institute Building.
Multipurpose compliant training rooms with operable dividing walls bear a range of diverse teaching spaces. Occupied with an architect is often a fresh process for clients, and the Pacific Environments team will walk you through it, from the initial client concise through interior design concepts and treatments, and through to the constructed building. The design team successfully collaborated with renowned artist Cain Wilson and integrated art work in to the precast definite walls with sensitive historical, cultural and environmental references. For visitors to the resort the Treehouses are segment of the experience of their holiday in the game of relaxation’ away from the city.
Designed around passive BSD principles to under running and energy costs, it was built on budget within the programmed. Design and planning sympathetic to the local environment and culture ensured full research of the local and wider parameters. Sustainability, lifestyle and the creation of enduring investment value is core to our design philosophy. There were very specific requirements, in addition to the District Plan, by the Auckland City Council for the siting of the proposed new facility.
Our maneuver was fully supported by a developer prepared to flourish the project to completion. These features have been retained in a contemporary design, feel and layout, offering an air of plain yet elegant sophistication, a landmark building in Parnell Village. Projects are characterized into four categories LIVE residential houses, renovations, retirement villages, apartments, social housing. Pacific Environments NZ Ltd is an award-winning Auckland studio of architects, who have proudly collected New Zealand and International awards.
In 2002 the building took home many awards, the Ernst and Young Notable Purposes Property Award, Energy knowing Commercial Building Award Finalist, Premier Clever Spaces Award, Enhancing the Built Environment Award, EEC Highly Commended and was a NZ IA Local Awards Finalist. The design incorporates components of yielding environmental control including a central thermal mass wall and tall smooth natural ventilation openings, which allow air movement within the building and to the exterior. Staff facilities and staff room are located between the classroom block and new ensuring that staff generally have protected access without having to traverse through the istration area, while the public access the office from the south and the pupils from the north where the majority of the classrooms are located. Pacific Environments have worked with Windy Ridge School over the final three years developing their Five Year Plan and their latter projects
