His son, Scott, had graduated from a fibreglass optimist that Keith had built at the Manly Sailing Club under a Club Building Scheme. Unfortunately the first one was a dog and was quickly sold after spending a fortune the second was a better boat but still needed to be redecked and refitted. In 1993 Keith saw a gap for a training optimist in polyethelene and built a mould to produce these very successful boats. They are now used in clubs and waterwise programmes throughout NZ, Singapore, Noumea, Melbourne, Tasmania, Florida USA, and Papua New Guinea.
In 1994 he made the decision to build a GRP Optimist as the international specifications were changed to the new IOD95 boats. At this stage we changed the name of the business from Dinghy Workshop to Sail One as we were no longer just building boats. In 1997 after successful negiotations with the Tauranga Yacht and Boating Club we were given permission to build a GRP P Class. In the first year the new boat finished second in the Tanner Cup after a closely fought series.
In 199 our background of 12 years building wooden and GRP boats led to negotiations with Glendowie Boating Club with regard to building a GRP Starling. We think the Starling is a beautiful boat and will lend itself very well to fibreglass construction with the added bonus of low maintenance

Saturday, 11 October 2014 Keith and the Sail One Van will be an at Kohl Yacht Club future for their open day, hopefully the sun stays shining!. Wednesday, 2 February 2011 Keith will have the Sail One van at the Junior Regatta at Wakatere Boating Club on Saturday 5th February.
Thursday, 10 February 2011 Keith and the Sail One van will down at Junior Sail Auckland, Kohl Yacht Club on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th. Friday, 11 April 2014 The Sail One mobile shop and its crew will be at Manly Sailing Club for the Optimist Ore ants, Teams Racing and the NZ Optimist Nationals April. Thursday, 9 February 2012 Keith will be at Junior Sail Auckland at Kohimarama Yacht Club this weekend with the moveable shop. Our shop will be open from 9am 6pm on Wednesday and Thursday 23 12, 9am 3pm on Friday 24 12. Monday, 14 February 2011 Keith is heading to piston on Wednesday with the Sail One mobile shop and a trailer with charter opt's.
Tuesday, 13 November 2012 We will be at the North Island Optimist Champs in taupe from Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th with the Sail One van. Wednesday, 30 September 2015 The Sail One team and changeable shop will be at the Winter Champs at Murray Bay Sailing Club this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Greg was the winner of the Sail One Green Fleet notable prize a Far East race sail. Sunday, 20 March 2016 We will be at the Kohimarama Yacht Club for the Optimist Nationals from to . Monday, 22 December 2014 Xmas and New Year Hours CLOSED Wednesday 24th December AT 4pm REOPEN Monday 12th January During this time we will be checking all emails and phone calls and we will be able to send out orders. A lot of overseas Regattas use Far East boats as charter boats therefore preparation in NZ in a Far East boat makes sense
