What you should know about VEGETARIAN SOCIETY INC
When you see the NZVS Approved trademark, you can be sure the product is completely suitable for vegetarians. We do this by encouraging plant based choices through education, information, support, campaigns and research. We are inclusive of everyone on the vegetarian path, from those reducing their use of animal products through to vegans. Being a member of the NZ Vegetarian Society means you gain information, support and a vegetarian community around you. It is rewarding to see the growing number of third and fourth generation healthy, vegetarian vegan kiwis.
I am passionate about the NZ Vegetarian Society and it being the authority on vegetarian living. I am particularly keen on the NZ Vegetarian Society’s role of getting vegetarians together and providing the opportunity for people in the community to find out more about vegetarian lifestyles. I have been a member of the NZ Vegetarian Society and Auckland Vegetarian Parent’s Group co ordinator since 2002. From then on I educated myself on animal rights issues, the health benefits of plant based diets and the impact on the environment.
I have been active as an advocate for many years and love to help people on their path towards a more compassionate lifestyle. I was born and raised vegetarian and through my parents have been involved with the NZ Vegetarian Society from a young age. I have been on the NZVS committee for several decades, and am enthusiastic about spreading information about the vegetarian lifestyle near and far. Local groups are where you can find like minded people and enjoy social activities. Groups are run by local volunteers and they are always willing to give support and help you on your veg n journey. All vegans and vegetarians, or people interested in the vegetarian lifestyle, are welcome.
You could also bring along a wanna be vege friend, so they can get a taste of vege life with us. Monthly vegetarian potlucks in Waiuku for those interested in vegetarian food, sharing recipes and getting to know vege families in the Franklin community. We have a holistic vision, and in the future will enjoy bringing mediation, yoga organic farming, cooking classes, and field trips to our community!. This group is for all children and teenagers who are vegetarian vegan, would like to be, or are interested in finding out more about vegetarianism. M onthly pot luck meal to share ideas and different dishes for all vegetarians and those interested in learning about a vegetarian way of living.
