NZ IA Jury Citation This is a sensitive solution to the problem of inserting a fresh building among a collection of existing structures at a trivial primary school. The public spaces Reception, waiting, circulation, imaging, point of sale, and ancillary spaces are articulated with historic Britomart building fabric finishes and textures being exposed historic brickwork, impaired cracked leather, concrete, recycled rim wall lining, and recycled pururi flooring. Each apartment pivots around a weather and privacy controlled loggia, achieved by means of a skin of sliding shutters, which in turn donate the facade of the building lightness, variation and articulation. Its material palette draws upon the brick, steel and tangible warehouse buildings of its immediate environment.
Each of the below 2 floors is dedicated to a single important apartment per floor with the penthouse apartment being over 2 levels. An office park development made up of 18 individual buildings of approximately 900m2 each built in 5 stages between 2004 and 2006, total construction cost approximately 28 million. Founded by the partnership of Lance and Nicola herbs and Bowie Maxcey in 2011, the practice maintains a trivial office with a focus on design led projects. The practice has completed a expansive range of building types in the areas of residential, commercial, educational and health care.
